ROCKLAND COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE DONATES TURKEYS AND ESSENTIAL FOOD ITEMS TO SUPPORT LOCAL FAMILIES

NEW CITY, N.Y. – The Rockland County District Attorney’s Office delivered 42 frozen turkeys and several boxes of non-perishable food items to People to People on Nov. 25, 2025, to help support local families in need.

Staff members joined together to donate essential food items and contribute funds used to purchase turkeys ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

“We work every day to serve our community, and coming together to support local families in need is an extension of that mission,” said District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II. “I’m deeply proud of the compassion and generosity shown by this team and the shared commitment to serving the community both inside and outside the courtroom.”

Mike Hekker, Director of Feeding Programs, says he’s been working at People to People for nearly five years, but has been volunteering with the organization for about 30.

“We are an emergency food source for Rockland County so anyone who needs food comes to our door,” said Hekker. “Two and a half tons of food go out that door every day.”

People to People will distribute turkeys along with cranberry sauce, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cornbread, and gravy as part of a Thanksgiving package.
