BLANCHARD GLAUDIN FOUND INCAPACITATED FOR FINKELSTEIN LIBRARY STABBING

NEW CITY, N.Y. – Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announces that Blanchard Glaudin, 31, homeless, as a result of mental disease or defect, lacks capacity to understand the proceedings against him, as declared by the Honorable Djinsad Desir in Rockland County Court, in conjunction with the killing of Finkelstein Library Security Guard Sandra Wilson on February 18, 2020.

On February 26, 2026, Glaudin was ordered by Judge Desir to be in the custody of the Commissioner of the Office of Mental Health for care and treatment in an appropriate facility operated by the Office of Mental Health, as designated by Commissioner.

Glaudin previously pled guilty on December 9, 2025, to the sole count of the indictment of Murder in the Second Degree in Rockland County Court before Judge Desir. The defendant admitted that on February 18, 2020, at approximately 2:00 p.m., while at the Finkelstein Library, Spring Valley, Rockland County, New York, he stabbed Sandra Wilson with a knife multiple times in her chest and body, causing her death.

“The People recommended 25 to life in state prison and the Court promised 20. Although sentencing did not proceed today as scheduled, this individual will not be returning to our streets,” said District Attorney Walsh. “The defendant will remain confined in a secure facility where he cannot pose a danger to others.”

The investigation was conducted by the Spring Valley Police Department.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Dominic Crispino.
