7TH GRAND JURY TERM OF 2026 CONCLUDES
NEW CITY, N.Y. – District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announces the completion of the 7th grand jury term of 2026. The grand jury term started on June 26, 2026, and was completed on July 22, 2026, handing up 4 indictments. The Rockland County District Attorney’s Office is committed to seeking justice for the people of Rockland County in a speedy manner in accordance with the law. The following is a list of indicted cases:
· Jose Ayol & Jefferson Toscano-Chasi – Attempted Murder in the Second Degree; Rape in the First Degree-Two Counts; Kidnapping in the Second Degree; Assault in the Second Degree; Strangulation in the Second Degree; Grand Larceny in the Third Degree; Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree; Aggravated Criminal Contempt; Assault in the Third Degree.
· Joaquin Brae Mendieta – Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree; Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree; Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree; Resisting Arrest.
· Anton Naumkin – Criminal Contempt in the First Degree-Two Counts; Aggravated Family Offense-Three Counts; Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree.
· Diego Huerta – Attempted Gang Assault in the First Degree; Attempted Assault in the First Degree; Assault in the Second Degree; Endangering the Welfare of a Child-Three Counts; Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree.
*It should be noted that an indictment is merely an accusation, and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
