SUFFERN MAN SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS STATE PRISION FOR CHILD RAPE
NEW CITY, N.Y. – Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announces that Willmer Loja Aroca, 20, of Suffern, New York, was sentenced to 14 years in state prison yesterday by the Honorable David M. Ascher of the Rockland County Court for raping an 11-year-old girl.
The defendant pled guilty to one count of Rape in the First Degree and will be required to register as a sex offender as a result of his conviction.
The defendant initially met the victim playing Fortnite, an online video game, and continued communication through Snapchat.
On January 14, 2025, at approximately 12:00 a.m., the defendant ordered an Uber for the victim which transported her to the defendant’s home. At approximately 12:32 a.m., the mother reported the daughter missing to the Spring Valley Police Department and an active search began to locate the child.
While at the defendant’s house, the defendant and the victim played Fortnite before he engaged in multiple acts of sexual conduct including oral, anal and vaginal sex.
At approximately 9:00 a.m., the defendant ordered an Uber which then dropped the defendant off at Suffern High School and then dropped the victim off in the vicinity of the victim’s elementary school.
The victim then contacted her mother who then picked her up and brought her into the Spring Valley Police Department.
“The defendant preyed on a vulnerable child and his reprehensible actions resulted in a lengthy prison sentence,” said District Attorney Walsh. “He was held accountable and the victim was spared from having to testify in open court and relive the deeply traumatic experiences. We commend the courage of this child and her mother for coming forward.”
The investigation was conducted by the Suffern Police Department and the Spring Valley Police Department.
The case was prosecuted by Executive Assistant District Attorney Kristin Tirino.
