ROCKLAND COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE PARTNERS WITH SUFFERN POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR GUN BUYBACK EVENT

NEW CITY, N.Y. – The Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, in partnership with the Suffern Police Department, will host a gun buyback event for the community on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Leo Lydon Community Center located at 118 Yorkshire Drive, Suffern, New York.

Participants can anonymously turn in functioning and non-functioning firearms in exchange for prepaid gift cards. No identification is required.

Accepted firearms and compensation will include:

  • Assault Rifle - $500 for each

  • Handgun - $250 for each

  • Rifle or Shotgun - $75 for each

  • Non-functioning replica, antique, homemade or 3D printed gun - $25 for total turned in

“This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing community safety and reducing the potential for gun violence in our neighborhoods,” said District Attorney Tom Walsh. “Every unwanted firearm that is safely removed from circulation represents one less opportunity for tragedy.”

Firearms should be transported to the event site unloaded, packaged in a paper or plastic bag, and left in the trunk of the vehicle. Law enforcement will safely remove the firearm from the trunk.

Payments are subject to approval once the firearm is screened by the officers. There is no limit to the number of firearms an individual may surrender, however, anyone turning in a non-functioning replica, antique, homemade or 3D printed gun will be paid a total of $25, regardless of how many turned in.

Active or retired law enforcement officers and licensed gun dealers are not eligible for this event.
