VALLEY COTTAGE MAN SENTENCED TO SEVEN YEARS IN STATE PRISON FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF A CHILD

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh, II announced today that Mauricio Sicha Torres, 36, of Valley Cottage, New York, having previously pled guilty on February 11, 2025, in the Supreme Court of Rockland County to Sexual Abuse in the First Degree (a class D felony) was sentenced on May 27, 2025, by the Honorable Rachel Tanguay to seven years in state prison. and five years of post-release supervision. Prior to the defendant’s release from prison, a Sex Offender Registration hearing will be held, and he will be required to register as a sex offender.

Commencing in September of 2023 and proceeding through June of 2024, the defendant subjected a 12-year-old female child to sexual abuse at a residence in the Town of Clarkstown. The nature of the sexual abuse consisted of multiple acts of sexual contact underneath the child’s clothing. In July of 2024, the child disclosed the abuse to a family member who reported the conduct to law enforcement.

Rockland County District Attorney Tom Walsh said, “The children of Rockland County must be protected and their abusers held accountable. The sentence of this defendant, Mauricio Sicha Torres, sends the message that individuals who seriously harm and subject our children to sexual abuse will face justice in Rockland County.”

The investigation was conducted by the Town of Clarkstown Police Department.

The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Kaitlin DeLuca of the Special Victims Unit.
