Rockland County District Attorney Announces Indictment Of James Valentine in Sex Abuse Case

District Attorney Thomas Walsh II announces that the Grand Jury of Rockland County has voted an indictment charging James Valentine (09/25/1967), of Cornwall on Hudson, New York, with one count Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the Second Degree (PL. Sec. 130.80. (1)(b)). The arraignment for this defendant is scheduled in front of the Honorable Kevin F. Russo of the Rockland County Court on July 10, 2025, at 9:30 am. Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the Second Degree is a class D violent felony which is punishable up to seven years in state prison.

It is alleged that the defendant sexually abused a male child from ages 8 to 12 at his former residence in Valley Cottage, New York during the years 2011-2016.  

This investigation is being conducted by the New York State Police with assistance from the District Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit and is an ongoing investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Supervising Assistant District Attorney Gerard M. Damiani III.

*It should be noted that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation, and that a defendant should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
