AIRMONT MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO RAPE OF 6-YEAR-OLD CHILD FACES STATE PRISON

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh, II announced today that Juan Buezo-Hernandez, 52, of Airmont, New York, pled guilty on July 3, 2025, to Rape in the First Degree (a class B felony) in the County Court of Rockland County before the Honorable Kevin J. Russo.

The defendant will be sentenced to nine years in state prison with five years of post-release supervision. He is scheduled to be sentenced on October 8, 2025. As a result of his conviction, the defendant will be required to register as a sex offender. A Sex Offender Registration hearing will be held prior the defendant’s release from state prison.

During the summer of 2015, the defendant engaged in vaginal sexual intercourse with a six-year-old female child, at a residence in the Village of Spring Valley.  A decade later, in early 2025, the child disclosed the abuse to a family member who reported the conduct to law enforcement.

This investigation was conducted by the Spring Valley Police Department with assistance from the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit.

The case was prosecuted by Supervising Assistant District Attorney Emily McNiff.
